The Gasser Foundation and Burbank Housing completed Stoddard West Apartments in September 2019. This new development features 50 multi-family apartment homes for low income households earning at or below 60% of the Area Median Income. The community is comprised of 15 one bedroom units, 20 two-bedroom units (5 of which are two-story townhouse style) and 15 three-bedroom units. Stoddard West achieves high energy efficiency by being all-electric. The heating and cooling is provided by heat-pumps that use electricity generated by a large rooftop array of photovoltaic panels.
Onsite amenities include a community room, offices, common spaces, children’s playground, and a raised planter gardening area. The architecture of the new building is that of a contemporary style that reflects the agrarian roots of the Napa Valley. The broken shed roof forms and simple massing are supported by complimentary materials including stucco, corrugated metal siding, and asphalt shingle roofing. The project provides 100 onsite covered parking spaces and four electric vehicle charging stations.
All of the residents living at Stoddard West work in the community and 90% lived in Napa prior to relocating to Stoddard West.
